My Birthday Celebration in Melo’s Alabang

Okay, so I’m celebrating the Big 3-0 today.  I feel so old!  But growing old is inevitable so I have no choice but to accept it.  Besides, it’s my last birthday before we welcome Reese Miakka to our little world.  By my next birthday, we’ll have a little girl with us.  So me and my wife decided to go all out and celebrate my 30th birthday in Melo’s Alabang.

Melo’s is the place to be if you’re looking for awesome steaks.  I’ve read so many great things about their steaks, particularly their Wagyu ribeye.  So I contacted Melo’s in order to book a reservation.  Please note that their Jupiter branch is now closed so we chose to go to Melo’s Alabang.  It’s located in Westgate.  It’s hard to miss it.

We went to the mall first in order to watch a movie.  We initially planned on going to ATC but saw that Hangover II is not showing there.  We didn’t want to watch Green Lantern because of the bad reviews.  So we instead went to Festival Mall.  Hangover II is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a while!  However, it made me think that my days of watching R-18 films are numbered!  There’s no way that I’ll expose my little girl to that kind of movie!

We went to ATC after the movie in order to buy my wife’s gift for me – an executive chair!  Being a work at home dad, I spend a lot of time in front of the computer.  I also have a bad back courtesy of a slipped disc.  So my wife thought of giving me a comfortable executive chair for my birthday.  How thoughtful of her!

We then went straight to Melo’s Alabang.  They were expecting us and Paul, the person I was texting with regarding my reservation, made sure that the staff was informed about my reservation.  The service was immaculate!  But of course, we went there for the food.  I mean, look at these pictures!

My wife immediately regretted not ordering the steak when she tried a few bites.  She’s not even a steak person!  It was that delicious.  It’s also very soft and tender.  It’s like butter, I tell you!  It also has the perfect amount of marbling and being the pioneer of Wagyu and Angus in the country, Melo’s Alabang was able to grill my steak perfectly.  Thank you, Melo’s!

By this time next year, we’ll be celebrating my birthday with another person – my daughter Reese.  I can’t wait!
